On his blog Deep Dark Fears, illustrator and animator Fran Krause 99 FAV invites people to submit their innermost trepidations, which he then translates into quick little comics.
Two years ago, when the Los Angeles-based artist first packaged some of the highlights from his web comic in book form, Deep Dark Fears became a New York Times bestseller—and was subsequently translated into Spanish and German, with the satisfying titles Nuestros miedos ocultos and Unsere Geheimen Ängste, respectively.
Now, with the recent release of The Creeps(Ten Speed Press), Krause builds on the same premise, offering a new set of idiosyncratic fears brought into the open through his loose, tongue-in-cheek cartoons.
